Sensor Tower: mobile games earned $ 11.9 billion for the first quarter of 2017

Revenues of games for mobile devices amounted to 11.9 billion dollars. Annual growth was 53% – for the same period in 2016, 7.8 billion was earned.

According to the company, the games brought about 80% of the revenues of all applications in the App Store and more than 91% on Google Play. The revenues of applications for Android grew significantly (83%) than for iOS (35%). At the same time, in absolute terms, the App Store is ahead of Google Play – 6.6 billion dollars against 5.3 billion.

The most downloaded application was the Runner Subway Surfers. In January, the monthly number of downloads reached 30 million. The application regularly shows similar results from 2012.

In the App Store, King of Glory from Tencent leads the way. As specifies Sensor Tower, most of all game download in China. However, it was not included in the top 10 most installed applications in the last quarter of 2016, and took 31st place.

Monster Strike topped the top in revenue in both digital stores. In second place – Fate / Grand Order, with the upcoming release in the US and Canada. Portal Pocket Gamer notes that the list does not mention Lineage 2: Revolution from Netmarble, which earned 176 million dollars in the first month after the release in South Korea.

On April 14, the App Annie report for March 2017 was published. According to the analyst company, Lineage 2: Revolution has become the most profitable application on Google Play.
