The American sales chart with reference to NPD Group published the portal VG247.
Mario Kart Deluxe, which was released on April 28 surpassed the bar at 460 thousand copies sold, excluding digital sales. At the same time, NPD stopped collecting data already on the 29th, which means that Nintendo achieved a similar result in two days of sales.
According to analysts, a similar start allowed the Mario Kart series to become the most successful racing franchise in US history. In addition, the top-3 sales included The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was released in early March, and the Nintendo Switch was the most popular console in April.
Switch, whose sales increased by 10% last month, was the first console since November 2015. Its popularity grew for two consecutive months.
Role-playing game Persona 5 was on the 5th place of the chart. The Altus project, released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, showed the best start in the history of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. In this case, as in the case of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, only physical copies of the game were taken into account in the statistics.
In April, the For Honor fell from the top 10 chart, dropping to 18th place, NieR: Automata, which turned out to be at number 19, and also Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, ceding the tenth line of Call of Duty: Blak Ops II. Many, including well-known analyst Daniel Ahmad, associate such a situation with the appearance of backwards compatibility between the versions of Black Ops II for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Fun Fact: Black Ops 2 sold more than Infinite Warfare last month in the U.S. due to BC on Xbox One.
And people say BC doesn't matter!

Ahmad also noted that according to the results of the April chart, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, For Honor and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild became the three most successful projects of 2017 in the USA.
Ghost Recon Wildlands, For Honor and Breath of the Wild are the top 3 best selling video games of the year (Jan – Apr 2017) in the U.S.
