True mid-century quality, not costume. This authentic late 1950s–early 1960s women’s cloche hat is made from genuine lustrous hare’s fur felt, with the body made in Italy and originally retailed by Joske’s of Texas, a high-end department store known for quality millinery. The felt is exceptionally soft and plush with a subtle haloed texture, typical of higher-grade fur felt hats from this era. The silhouette is classic and wearable, featuring a rounded dome crown and softly structured rolled brim. The cream / winter white color keeps it elegant and versatile. Details • Era: Late 1950s–early 1960s • Material: Genuine lustrous hare’s fur felt • Made in Italy (body) • Retailer: Joske’s of Texas, San Antonio • Union made (AFL-CIO label) • Color: Cream / winter white • Style: Cloche Measurements (approximate) • Interior circumference: 21” • Interior diameter: 8” How to Wear Designed to sit low on the forehead or slightly tilted forward, as typical of mid-century cloche styles. Best worn snug rather than loose for the intended silhouette. Condition Excellent vintage condition. Even, plush felt with no bald spots. Structure holds its shape well. Interior ribbon and labels intact. This is a refined, true vintage piece — not reproduction and not novelty.
